The Sandy Loamy Soil with moisture is best for growing sugarcane.

A sugarcane plant has ‘many stems’ in a very tuft. There are 5 different types of sugarcane species namely are Saccharum :

  1. Officinarum
  2. Robustum
  3. Barberi
  4. Sinense
  5. Spotaneum

It is the main source of sugar production and sugar-based products for a long time.

How to Crop this?

It is mainly sowed in the Kharif crop season according to the climate conditions of that area. The Humid & Hot climate with an average temperature scale of 22 deg to 28 deg is best for cropping. Rainfall is good for sugarcane cultivation.

Uttar Pradesh has covered 36% to 40% share of the total percent of sugarcane production in India and it is the largest state which produces the sugarcane on a big scale. Maharashtra and Karnataka are the second and third-largest states in sugarcane production. Bihar, Assam, Haryana, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu are the other main sugarcane producing states of India.

How to sowing?

Plow the field to a fine tilth and dig pits of the 20-25 cm x 20-25 cm x 20-25 cm size at 2 x 2.5 m row spacing. it is similar to gourd sowing with little changes.

Plant Spacing is important as it is cultivated in different varieties. Space between to seed is very less or one can overlap the seed in the dig and cover it with soil.
